The main point of my last post: There is a really BIG difference between being "on our way" somewhere, and actually BEING THERE.
Maybe we could sum up this post with the saying, "there's no place like HOME."
You may be living at a certain address here on Earth, but where is it you call "Home?"
The fact is, according to scripture, our PRESENT citizenship, or commonwealth, is Heaven (Philippians 3:20). Our PRESENT resources, and our most treasured possessions are ALL in Heaven (Ephesians 1:3; Hebrews 10:34). Our very LIFE is "hidden" in Heaven (Colossians 3:3-4). And, in a very real way, in GOD'S eyes, we, ourselves, are, right at this very moment, SEATED TOGETHER WITH CHRIST IN HEAVEN (Ephesians 2:6)!
Ah, there's the rub! We may not make a lot of this Biblical truth for the simple reason we don't know what to make of it (totally aside from the fact we have no idea what to DO with it)!
How can I be in two places at once? Obviously, I AM still physically here on terra firma, am I not? Is this just meant to be some kind of metaphor? Or some deep, metaphysical paradox, not even meant to be understood?
Not merely a metaphor. Very much meant to be understood. I don't claim to have all or perfect understanding, myself (sorry to disappoint ya!), but the Lord has very graciously afforded some light.
I really AM getting to some fuller explanation, and I intend to get into that SOON!
This one written at Starbucks in Lake Geneva, while waiting out the rain, and soon to meet up with our firstborn, her hub, and Harley, the furry quadruped.
More soon, Lord willing.
